V60

After James Hoffmann

The V60 is a single dripper, a single cone, a single direction. Water enters at the top and leaves at the bottom, and everything you taste is what happened in between.

It is the most patient of the methods, and the most honest about your pour.

There is nowhere for water to hide here. The cone is open at the bottom — a wide hole, fast drainage, no immersion to soften an uneven extraction. If you pour fast in one place, that's the cup you get. If you take your time and move with care, the V60 returns the favor: a bright, clean, articulate cup that lets a single-origin coffee speak in its own voice.

It demands attention. It rewards attention.

Brought to the world by Hario in Japan, but at home anywhere there is a kettle and a quiet morning.
